Our founders Beth Eckert (piano), Robin Eckert (violin), and Elizabeth Eckert (piano) are a family team who came together to form Eckert Suzuki Music in 2013. Prior to that, Beth taught piano at The Levine School of Music in Washington D.C., Robin was on the violin faculty of Austin Peay State University Community School of the Arts, and Elizabeth had been on the piano faculty at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music. They are joined by expert teaching faculty members Mary Sanderson (violin), Katie Linzmaier (voice), and Sara Zentner (piano).

A Suzuki Piano teacher for over 20 years, Elizabeth Eckert has taught for Eckert Suzuki Music, Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music, and Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music's pre-collegiate program. A veteran teacher, Elizabeth was a Suzuki student herself and is deeply rooted in the method. Having received her Bachelor's Degree of Music in piano performance from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, Elizabeth debuted in Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall before she began teaching in Nashville, TN.

Mary Sanderson

Mary Sanderson grew up attending the IU Jacobs School of Music String Academy where she often toured the country with the Violin Virtuosi. During her time in the group, Sanderson performed at many stages around the country including Carnegie Hall and performed with many soloists including Augustin Hadelich. She completed a Bachelor’s degree at University of Wyoming and during her time there, soloed with the University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra after becoming a laureate of the Jacoby Competition. Sanderson completed her Master’s of Music at University of Illinois and won the Paul Rolland Competition. 

Sanderson fell in love with teaching when she started volunteering at the Fairview Program when she was 12. Since then, she has taught over 100 students.

Sara Zentner

Sara Zentner grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and started asking for piano lessons when she was 3 years old. She began teaching piano at age 18, and graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance in May, 2000.  In 2002, she discovered the Suzuki Method, and received her first Suzuki Training in Irvine, CA and Salt Lake City, Utah in the summer of 2002.

She has since received Suzuki training and attended Suzuki workshops in Memphis, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, and Asheville through the Suzuki Association of Americas, and Suzuki Piano Basics. She is certified to teach all Suzuki levels, and has completed training in Suzuki Bk 1A & 1B, Suzuki Bk 2, and Every Child Can! In addition, has attended several Suzuki Piano Basics summer Institutes, with teachers from the Suzuki Talent Education Research Institute in Motsumoto, Japan, as well as Master Classes, workshops and lectures from teacher trainers like Leah Brammer and Joanne Bath. She is also a certified Music Mind Games teacher.

After over 30 years of teaching children and adults of all ages, she continues to love teaching, and is committed to helping her students develop a lifelong love of music.

Katie Linzmaier

Katie Linzmaier recently relocated from the Metro Detroit Area, where she earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Madonna University in 2018. After school, she began teaching private lessons in voice and beginner piano at Music Authority School in Dearborn Heights, MI, where she worked for four years. In between work, she performed in several productions with professional opera companies local to the Detroit area, such as Main Street Opera, On Top of the World Productions, and Opera MODO. Now she’s earning her master’s degree in Vocal Pedagogy at Belmont University, so she can become a better performer and teacher, and graduates May 2024. Outside of teaching, she has performed in multiple opera productions at Belmont and currently sings as an alto section leader at Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Nashville.

Beth Eckert

Piano Teacher

Before becoming a founding member of Eckert Suzuki Music, Beth served as chair of the Suzuki Piano Department at The Levine School of Music in Washington, DC, was Director of The Music Academy of Rhodes College in Memphis, and also founded the Academy’s Suzuki Department. Beth received a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance from Rhodes College and a Master of Music from The University of Memphis, where she also completed all levels of Suzuki Piano training. In addition to teaching for over 40 years, Beth was a Suzuki Mom for her two daughters (and fellow faculty members) Elizabeth and Robin Eckert.
